As a $1 million donor to the Dr. P. Phillips Orlando Performing Arts Center, Annette Neel has named the multiform proscenium stage The Peter Family Stage. This stage will feature ballet, modern dance, opera, and other diverse performances. Neel chose this legacy naming right to honor her parents, Doris and Asher Peter, long-time Orlando natives and arts enthusiasts.
“This area has been good to us and we wanted to show our gratitude,” said Annette Neel. “The performing arts center will be a jewel in Orlando’s crown.”
The 1,700 seat hall, soon-to-be named by Walt Disney World Company, will contain a unique and advanced technology allowing for the configuration of the walls, floor and stage to transform via hydraulics from an acoustically sound symphony hall to a classic proscenium theater.
“We appreciate the significant support for the project from Annette,” said Board Chairman Jim Pugh. “By choosing to name this very unique stage, she has made possible what will be one of the most technologically advanced performing arts halls in the country.”
Signage reflecting this naming opportunity will be installed with the construction of the performing arts center. Previously announced named gifts include the Dr. P. Phillips Orlando Performing Arts Center with a $25 million gift from Dr. Phillips Charities, the Bill and Mary Darden Box Office with a $1 million gift from Darden Restaurants, and the Richard Kessler Hospitality Suite with a $1 million gift from Richard Kessler.
